Positano Diary – June 16: The Marvel of the Roman Villa, This Week’s Events, Transport Info, and More in the Pearl of the Amalfi Coast

Positano, June 16 – A new day of sun and wonder in the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, where every corner tells a story of beauty, history, and warm hospitality. Yesterday, the town joyfully celebrated its patron saint, San Vito, with the traditional procession and breathtaking fireworks that delighted both residents and visitors.

We are now in the heart of the tourist season, and Positano continues to be one of the most enchanting and well-organized destinations in the world. It’s hard to list all the wonderful things this town offers, but at Positanonews – the first online newspaper of the Amalfi Coast and Sorrentine Peninsula – we’ve been trying to do just that for over 20 years.

A Must-See: The Roman Villa and Archaeological Museum (MAR)

One of the top experiences in Positano is visiting the MAR – Roman Archaeological Museum, home to the remains of a Roman villa buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Walk literally above history on suspended glass walkways, taking in stunning frescoes and layered remnants of ancient civilization.

The museum is kept at a cool 15°C (59°F) for preservation – bring a light jacket or scarf!
